        POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Finance and Administration oversees Heart of LA’s business relationships, finances, facilities, and information technology to ensure they are managed in a manner that is efficient, effective, and--most importantly--aligned with Heart of LA’s mission and core values of respect, responsibility, support, positive communication, and inclusion.  We are seeking an administrator with a multi-faceted skill set who can apply top-notch finance and management skills in a small business environment with a focus on cultivating and sustaining an organization that is equitable and inclusive in all aspects.

        WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, experience with nonprofit accounting, and an eye for system development and improvement.  They should be willing to learn and adapt to Heart of LA’s existing infrastructure.  This person is a self-starter, flexible, with a high level of integrity, and is action- and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment.

They will also lend gravitas to the day-to-day operations of “the back office” and understand how seemingly small items—like accurate codes in a chart of accounts or a clearly drafted rental agreement—can impact the successful pursuit of an organization’s mission and goals.  The candidate should be able to clearly explain this connection to others.

They consistently make strategic decisions that inspire respect and confidence.  They bring clarity and calm to collaborative practices and are a thoughtful team member who acts with integrity and is unfailingly trustworthy.  They are committed to continuously deepening their understanding of finance systems and workflows, viewing mistakes as opportunities for growth and problems as catalysts for solutions, while inspiring others along the journey.  A positive approach, can-do attitude, and authentic kindness are essential attributes they carry wherever they go.
