The ARTSFUND provides grant awards for general operating support to Alameda County based arts and cultural nonprofit organizations to assist with the mission and ongoing programs of the grantee organization. The grant funds can be used to support programs, general administration, and operating expenses. The standard ARTSFUND grant award is $2,000 to $3,000.

The Gottlieb Foundation Individual Support Grant

Applications for the 2025 Individual Support Grant will open on October 14, 2024. The application deadline for the 2025 grant cycle is January 15, 2025, at 11:59 pm EST.

The Foundation wishes to encourage artists who have dedicated their lives to developing their art, regardless of their level of commercial success.

Please note that these grants are available only to individual painters, sculptors, and printmakers who have worked in a mature phase of art for 20 years or more.

The Gottlieb Foundation does not fund organizations, educational institutions, students, graphic artists, or those working in crafts. The disciplines of photography, film, video, or related forms are not eligible unless the work directly involves, or can be interpreted as, painting or sculpture. The Foundation does not fund exhibitions, installations, or projects of any kind.

Last year, the Foundation awarded grants of $25,000 each to 20 artists.

This program was conceived in order to recognize and support the serious, fully-committed artist, and we hope these individuals will consider applying. 20 grants are awarded each year. Applications are reviewed by a panel of five professionals in the arts who have no affiliation with the Foundation. In this program, the following criteria must be met:

Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate that they have been working in a mature phase of their art for at least 20 years. Maturity is based on the level of intellectual, technical, and creative development maintained over this time period. Artists must show that their primary involvement has been with their artistic goals, regardless of other personal or financial responsibilities. Artists must work in the disciplines of painting, sculpture, or printmaking.

In addition to the maturity requirement, eligibility for an Individual Support Grant is determined by the applicant’s current financial need. Each applicant must complete the financial disclosure section in full and must submit the appropriate financial documentation.

Please note that applicants who have previously received an Individual Support Grant from this Foundation three times or more are no longer eligible to apply. 

The Gottlieb Foundation - Individual Support Grant

We are looking for an organized Program Coordinator to help smooth the way forward on the various programs and initiatives within BRIC. We are looking for a part-time IATSE Union Liaison to support BRIC's California Arts, Media & Entertainment High Road℠ Training Partnership (AME-HRTP). The IATSE Union Liaison will play a pivotal role in advancing our AME-HRTP mission by collaborating with participating locals to implement and enhance union pathway initiatives. This role is perfect for someone who has workforce development or community outreach experience and possesses strong project management, interpersonal, and analytical skills.

BRIC Foundation

PEN America is an organization of writers and their allies, and that solidarity is never more important than when members of our literary community face crises. PEN America’s U.S. Writers Aid Initiative, part of the PEN America Writers Emergency Fund, offers grants for writers in the United States facing acute financial need following an emergency situation. The U.S. Writers Aid Initiative is intended to assist fiction and nonfiction authors, poets, playwrights, translators, and journalists in addressing short-term financial emergencies. To be eligible, applicants must be professional writers based in the United States, and be able to demonstrate that this one-time grant will be meaningful in helping address a short-term emergency situation. The fund is limited, and not every application can be supported. Grant decisions are made on a quarterly basis by a volunteer committee of literary peers in consultation with PEN America staff, using the following guidelines to evaluate professional credentials:

Publication of one or more books. (Writers who are only self-published or published by a press that charges for publication are not eligible.)

Multiple essays, short stories, or poems appearing in literary anthologies or literary journals (either online or in print) in the last two years.

A full-length play, performed in a theater by a professional theater company. Productions in academic settings qualify if the author is not a student at the time of the production.

Employment as a full-time professional journalist, columnist, or critic, or a record of consistent publication on a freelance basis in a range of outlets during the last two years.

Contracted forthcoming books, essays, short stories, poems, or articles for which the name of the publisher can be provided.

Other qualifications that support the applicant’s professional identity as a writer.

The U.S. Writers Aid Initiative is not intended to subsidize writing-related expenses, such as residencies, sabbaticals, computers, printing, shipping, travel, or publicity services. Applications received on or before the following quarterly deadlines will be reviewed before the last day of that month.

PEN America - U.S. Writers Aid Initiative

The City of Riverside is pleased to announce an Artist in Residency (AIR) opportunity.

This opportunity and pilot program is funded through ARPA monies in partnership with our community partner, the Riverside Arts Council.

The Artist in Residency Program will build partnerships with communities and neighborhoods in order to provide unique artist residencies that result in strengthening the value of art participating in and responding to the advancement of civic and artistic engagement.

The City is looking to identify six (6) Riverside-based artists to research and engage with the wards of the City and then use that research to develop new work(s) in those neighborhoods. The amount each of Residency can be up to $25,000 for each artist depending on the number and/or size of the mural that is produced with production costs for each ward up to approximately $5,000 (lifts, paints, permits, etc.).

Develops and implements a comprehensive fundraising plan that includes major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, planned giving, and special events. This involves identifying and cultivating major gift prospects, as well as corporate and foundation donors, and planning and executing special events that engage donors and raise funds for Parks California. Works collaboratively with the Communications team to develop and execute effective donor communications and marketing materials. This involves developing a compelling message that resonates with potential donors, creating donor recognition programs, and crafting targeted appeals that drive donations. This will include the development of physical collateral, online/website messaging, e-mail outreach, and more.

Development Department and Fundraising Portfolio Management

Provides guidance, training, and support as needed. This includes setting goals and expectations, monitoring performance, and providing feedback to ensure the Development Department team is working effectively together and that fundraising goals are met or exceeded.

Builds and personally manages a portfolio of major donors aligned with the mission of CA State Parks and Parks California.  

Responsible for an assigned annual fundraising revenue goal, including both renewable gifts and new revenue.

Fundraising Data Monitoring and Analyzing

Responsible for monitoring and analyzing fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed. Parks California - Senior Director of Development

Black Film Space is excited to partner with Entertainmint to support Black filmmakers with a new grant opportunity! The winner will receive $2,500 to help bring their creative vision to life.

Entertainmint is a groundbreaking “community studio” and distribution hub that connects creators with fans through immersive opportunities, crowdfunding, and streaming platforms like Tubi and Roku. Since 2022, they’ve raised over $500K for diverse creators, leveraging a team of experienced marketplace builders and an advisory group of industry experts.

We’re seeking original short films at any stage of production that require funding to complete principal photography by December 31, 2025. All genres are welcome.

Projects in production or post-production are also eligible.

Greater Riverside Dollars for Scholars is an all volunteer organization that serves Riverside, California!

When the next school year begins, 41 local high school graduates will start their freshman year of college supported by scholarships awarded by Greater Riverside Dollars for Scholars.  Selected from a pool of over 150 applicants, the students will receive varying award amounts ranging from $500 to $5,000.  

Greater Riverside Dollars for Scholars is an affiliate of Scholarship America.  Formed in 1996, the local organization partners with individuals, businesses and other nonprofits to raise and award the scholarship funds. Partners include the Al Miller Memorial Scholarship Fund, the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce's six business councils, National Charity League, Katherine C. Webb Memorial Scholarship Fund, Riverside Road Runners, Riverside Dickens Festival, Sunrise Rotary Club, and Inland Empire Community Foundation.

Merit and need-based scholarships are offered each spring to graduating seniors in Alvord, Jurupa, Corona-Norco, Moreno Valley, and Riverside unified school districts as well as Sherman Indian High School and California School for the Deaf.

This unique grant program is designed to help fund your vision and connect you with companies looking for new stories to develop. Previous winners have screened at Cannes, Sundance, SXSW and more.

We consider a range of projects, from treatments to standalone screenplays, to fully-packaged projects seeking finishing funds and will choose 1 - 4 projects to fund. Grant amounts will vary up to $30,000 depending on the scale and merit of each project.

ScreenCraft will offer production grants to talented creators for narrative features, short films, TV pilot series scripts, and documentaries that display originality, vision & exceptional potential.

ScreenCraft - Spring Film Fund

ACTIVATE is a FREE advocacy training and leadership development program. Through various program experiences, ACTIVATE recognizes the importance of local leaders and seeks to empower these individuals with the skills, knowledge, and an expanded network to effect change in their communities, the greater Los Angeles arts and culture sector, and most importantly, themselves.

In 2021, Arts for LA collaborated with Emerging Arts Leaders/Los Angeles to bring a new leadership development program to the ACTIVATE suite of offerings. ACTIVATE Emerging Arts Leaders (EAL) brings together both organizations’ shared goal to prepare, educate, and inspire the next generation of arts leaders across the region, expand the field’s definition of arts advocacy and ensure it is considered an essential skill for any arts leader. The mission of EAL is to provide hands-on community organizing experience for the next generation of leaders.

ACTIVATE EAL is a 9-month, stipend program where participants will:

Gain leadership opportunities to organize the wider Arts for LA field through programs and events;

Analyze the current needs of the Arts for LA’s community and support/align with the organizational goals through these programs;

Learn how to work with an organizational budget;

Expand not only their own network but also Arts for LA’s network through new partnerships, participant engagement and outreach to guest speakers; and

Participate in the development of our annual State of the Arts Summit.

Mobilizing community members to support key legislation.

The course also will briefly touch on the fundamentals of cultural policy and civic procedures with the aim of empowering arts leaders to drive change across Arts for LA’s four policy areas: affordable spaces for artists, creative career pathways, equitable arts education, and equitable arts funding.

Arts For LA - Emerging Arts Leaders (EAL) and Delegates Programs

East Bay Community Foundation (EBCF) is proud to launch the Oakland Small Business Resiliency Fund, a grant fund supporting diverse small businesses with a physical presence in Oakland. The Fund will provide a one-time infusion of grant capital to Oakland small businesses to boost their resiliency and ability to withstand and recover from the economic and community safety challenges they face or to build their capacity and readiness to take on other forms of capital and investments. 

The Oakland Small Business Resiliency Fund is part of EBCF’s larger vision of an inclusive and just economy where all East Bay residents have the economic power and freedom to dream, heal, and belong. Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy, creating jobs, ownership opportunities, and economic activity, stability, and wealth creation in communities of color. Small businesses also contribute to the culture, vibrancy and health of Oakland’s diverse neighborhoods, providing gathering spaces, increasing foot traffic and community-building opportunities, and creating a sense of belonging. Today, small businesses in our region struggle with significant challenges limiting their growth and threatening their survival, such as safety issues, hiring shortages, lack of affordable commercial space, and barriers to accessing low-cost capital. 

Diverse business owners (entrepreneurs of color and entrepreneurs that identify as women, non-binary, or transgender) face additional barriers, such as inequitable access to capital, culturally competent technical and technological assistance and mentors, networks, contracting opportunities, and other resources.

Eureka Chinatown Project Program Coordinator

Position Summary: The Program Coordinator will manage the Eureka Chinatown Project, an initiative of Humboldt Asians & Pacific Islanders in Solidarity (HAPI), to honor the history and culture of the first Chinese people in Humboldt County, California.

Wage: $30 to $40/hour depending on experience and qualifications.

Location: This is a hybrid position. Some work will be done remotely, but an in-person presence is required at all events, public meetings, and meetings with civic groups, non-profit organizations, and HAPI. The in-person events are generally in Eureka and Arcata, California, and can be as often as a few times per week.

Work Hours and Schedule: Approximately 16-20 hours per week for two years, with a possibility of extending beyond two years. Hours are flexible during the work week, and some weeks may require more hours and some weeks fewer.

Supervisors: The Program Coordinator will coordinate work with a team of three HAPI Directors. HAPI is a DreamMaker project of the Ink People Center for Arts and Culture, and the Coordinator’s employment will be with the Ink People.

The library, in partnership with the Library Foundation of Los Angeles, has established a residency program, Los Angeles Public Library Creators in Residence, designed to engage creative Angelenos from diverse backgrounds to produce new work that is informed or inspired by the Los Angeles Public Library’s collections and services, while also highlighting the impact of the library as a creative haven.

Creators from a wide range of disciplines — including but not limited to: artists, photographers, designers, architects, landscape architects, storytellers, filmmakers, poets, illustrators, cartographers, composers, writers, podcasters, and creators of any media — are invited to apply. Two will be selected based on the strength, originality, and relevance of past work and/or how the proposed project contributes to the Library’s broad mission of providing free and easy access to information, ideas and technology, engaging and inspiring the public, and interpreting critical stories from the collections it holds and the communities it serves.

The residency comes with a $20,000 award. This honorarium is for the creator’s time, including meetings, research, local travel, and for the creation and presentation of deliverables and promotion thereof. Additional support will be provided for materials and production expenses that may arise in the course of the project, and will be determined on a case by case basis. Selected individuals will have the opportunity to work closely with LAPL and LFLA staff, explore the Library's extensive collections, utilize its facilities, and participate in programs while developing and executing their own original projects.

Must be 18 years or older and a resident of Los Angeles County.

Must be able to attend occasional meetings at the Central Library in Downtown Los Angeles.

The Creator is expected to meaningfully and substantially engage with LAPL staff, collections, facilities, and programs to propose and develop an appropriate and original project that is inspired by the Los Angeles Public Library and in some way creatively contributes to or enhances the library's mission of providing free and easy access to information, ideas, and technology that enrich, educate and empower every individual in our city's diverse communities. Please note that the project must be new and inspired by the library; pre-existing or ongoing projects for which creators are seeking additional support will not be considered for this opportunity.

The project should result in some form of physical or digital output that becomes part of the library’s permanent collection and can be engaged with by the public.

Selected creators agree to participate in interviews and other promotional or marketing requests relating to their work.

The project is a part-time endeavor with a required commitment of 6 to 8 months. The schedule is somewhat flexible, but the Creator must be able to dedicate a substantial amount of time to creating a project of significant scope that will culminate or launch publicly in the Fall or no later than November of 2025.

While this opportunity is geared towards individuals, collaborative or team-based projects will also be considered. In this case, the $20,000 honorarium would be split amongst the contributors, and one member of the group should be identified as the primary contact.

Los Angeles Public Library - Creators

Job Title: Director of Arts Strategy and Ventures 

Location: Oakland, CA, A hybrid work schedule and regular attendance to in-person meetings and grantee activities in the San Francisco Bay Area is required. Not a remote position.

The Kenneth Rainin Foundation (Rainin Foundation) is a family foundation that collaborates with creative thinkers to enhance quality of life by championing the arts, promoting early childhood literacy, and supporting research to cure chronic disease. Today, with a team of over 30 and total annual grants of approximately $19 million, the Foundation supports Bay Area visionary artists, creates opportunities for Oakland’s youngest learners, and funds researchers on the forefront of scientific discoveries to cure chronic disease. The Arts Team exists to steward foundation resources (people, money, power, culture) in alignment with the Arts program’s strategies and values to achieve the Foundation’s vision and mission. The Team is a group of highly experienced individuals and dynamic leaders with technical expertise in their professional area and experience driving Arts program strategies and goals. The Team plays an important leadership role locally and nationally to support the Bay Area arts ecosystem.  

The Director of Arts Strategy and Ventures is responsible for the operational success, team management and development, program delivery, grantmaking strategy, and evaluation of the Arts program. The Director serves as the key external face and internal leader for the Rainin Foundation’s Arts program.  

Develop and monitor strategic programmatic plans based on in-depth knowledge and expertise of the Bay Area arts community;  

Identify potential opportunities for transformational change and develop innovative grant programs and long-term initiatives to achieve Arts program goals;  

Lead strategic partnerships and special initiatives;  

Oversee and manage Arts program funding portfolio;  

Oversee the process for reviewing, evaluating, and tracking grant proposals;  

Review and evaluate proposals, conduct due diligence, monitor and assess grantee progress; and     

Share work, progress, and impact with the Board of Directors and develop grant recommendation memos for approval.  

Develop and cultivate relationships and act as a thought partner for key stakeholders in the Bay Area community;   

Serve as a local and national thought leader and recognized expert on issues of importance in the arts and other sectors that intersect and impact the field, organizing and speaking at relevant convenings;  

Lead Arts program team and support talent development, including training, accountability, and timely communication, coaching and feedback for direct reports;  

Lead and participate in cross departmental and Foundation-wide initiatives;  

Collaborate with Finance, Grants Management & Learning, and Communications staff on select Arts-related tasks and special projects; and 

Promote diversity, equity and inclusion both internally and among our stakeholders in the community, in alignment with the Foundation’s values.  

Develop and manage learning and evaluation framework and performance measures for programs, initiatives, and grantees;  

Collaborate with Foundation colleagues to ensure grants are captured in the database, positioned well for learning and success; and   

Synthesize learning and evaluation data and metrics and strategically communicate Foundation’s impact, in collaboration with Grants Management & Learning and Communications staff.   

Research trends, data, and issues in the field and provide logical and well-written findings;    

Document and disseminate knowledge about promising practices and innovative ways to support the work, build partnerships, and implement initiatives;  

Share the foundation’s learning through affiliation groups, conferences, and other relevant public forums;

CERF+, seeks an experienced, organized, and service-oriented individual to be the Grants and Program Manager beginning April 2025. This individual reports to the Director of Grants, Programs, and Training and will manage all stages of the grant lifecycle, from application through reporting and fund distribution, ensuring alignment with equitable grantmaking practices. Additionally, the Grants and Programs Manager will support the implementation and maintenance of grant management policies, ensure financial accountability, and actively contribute to CERF+’s community engagement and mission-driven initiatives.

Have demonstrated experience in supporting grants management strategies within the nonprofit sector.

Possess a strong understanding of how data management, policies, and processes align to support a comprehensive and equitable grantmaking program.

Experience in managing the complete grant lifecycle, including supporting application processes, reporting, and the distribution of funds.

Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms for maintaining accurate records and generating analytics reports.

Competency in maintaining financial accountability and managing grant-related budgets or restricted funds.

Ability to create detailed project plans, set timelines, and manage resources effectively.

Be an engaged and responsive collaborator with the Director of Grants, Programs, and Training and the CERF+ staff.

CERF+ - Grants and Program Manager

The Sacramento City Council and the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors make funds available to the Cultural Arts Awards (CAA) program to support nonprofit arts and cultural organizations. This funding provides general operating support to organizations within Sacramento County who contribute to the cultural vibrancy of our communities.

To be eligible for funding, organizations must meet standards of diversity and equity, artistic and/or cultural contribution, community impact, show sound management, and demonstrate financial and organizational accountability. More information can be found in the guidelines liked below.

Cultural Arts Awards Application is due by: December 15th, 2024, 11:59 p.m. (PST)
