Summary:
Actors' Equity is a national labor union of professional actors and stage managers working in live theatre, founded for the purpose of negotiating strong agreements that protect the wages, hours and working conditions of its members, enforcing those agreements, organizing new work opportunities for members and pursuing appropriate legislation on matters affecting their profession. We represent the belief that the art of theatre is an essential cultural and economic component of our society. We are hiring ten temporary political organizers in multiple regions: Philadelphia, California, Long Island NY, and Hudson Valley NY. Preferably Equity members, to support our efforts in building political power and organizing union members to vote. This role is not remote. It involves mobilizing union members for the 2024 election by canvassing, working in the field, door knocking union households and at times report to an area office.Other campaign tactics such as phone banking and text messaging may be used as needed. This role will be expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Standard work hours are from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, with 1 to 2 evening shifts per week and 2 to 3 weekend days per month. The position requires a weekly commitment of 20-25 hours and will last up to 18 weeks.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Participate in voter contact programs for union members, including canvassing, phone banking and text messaging programs.
- Meet weekly campaign voter contact goals as assigned.
- Identify, recruit, train and develop volunteer leaders
- Provide regular reports on voter contact to field team leaders.
- Maintain high standards of professionalism at all times.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to move individuals and groups of workers to action around shared goals
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds
- Motivated self-starter who takes initiative and is also a team player
- Strong personal planning, organizational and time management skills, including ability to discern priorities when faced with many important tasks
- Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills
- Computer skills (in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Previous experience in labor, political or community organizing a plus
- Driver’s license a plus
- Experience in or passion for Theater a plus
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
- Work in an office environment, standing/walking in the field, sitting at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time.
- May occasionally require long and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
- May travel for work assignments
Compensation:
- Hourly rate is $20.
